40 Times it Looked Like DNA Was ‘Copy-Pasted’ on Different Relatives

The DNA Doesn’t Lie
We’ve all heard people say “you look like your mother” or “wow, you have the same nose as your grandfather!” Whether that is because of a particular feature or you just happen to look like a carbon copy of them, this might be hard for some of you to accept. That is until you look at a photo of the two of you side-by-side and then it all makes sense. Here are a few examples of what we mean! Enjoy!
Same, Same but Different
Having the same eye color wouldn’t necessarily mean that you look just like your mother or father. The fact that you may share brown eyes may be genetic but has very little to do with the overall look you have.
Same, Same but Different
However, in this case, the eyes are what makes this mother-daughter duo look like they are carbon copies of each other. The unique brown and blue eye combination is not only unique but very beautiful.
Twinning!
Sometimes when people tell you that you look like a certain family member, it’s hard to see it at first. This can lead to a lot of denial until somebody can prove to you that what they’re saying is the truth.
Twinning!
So, when this young lady finally saw pictures of her grandmother, that was all the evidence she needed to understand just how similar they look. Crazy how DNA is carried through the generations!
Matching Smiles
It can be a fun experience to dig through old family pictures. When you do, sometimes you will be surprised at just how much you really do look like your family. Such was the case for this guy on the right, who discovered that he and his dad are two of a kind.
Matching Smiles
Not only do they have the same exact grin but if the son were to grow out his beard and hair a bit more, they’d actually be hard to tell apart!
A Dead Ringer
With more and more of us looking into our ancestry through sites like ancestry.com, it’s no wonder that tons of people are starting to learn that they look a lot like family members from the past. In fact, sometimes, the similarities are pretty extensive.
A Dead Ringer
It doesn’t matter how far removed the relative is, sometimes you wind up with an image that looks like a dead ringer for someone who’s staring back at you in the mirror.
Graduation Twins
One of the biggest moments in any person’s life is when they graduate from high school and college. So, it makes sense that from time to time, we take a trip down memory lane by looking at old pictures.
Graduation Twins
Typically that means pulling out the yearbooks from the past. When this mother-daughter duo did that, it reinforced just how similar to two women are.
Dapper Doppelganger
It is amazing when families keep heirlooms and pictures from older generations. Keeping these archives allows future generations to see just where they got their features from. Like this gentleman!
Dapper Doppelganger
Everything from his ears, facial structure, and forehead resemble his relative in the picture. In fact, if the guy in the checkered shirt found a suit similar enough to the olden day one, he’d 100% be a doppelganger. Don’t you think?
Gramps and I
When people keep telling you time and time again that you look a lot like your dad, but you don’t see it, it can be annoying. But the truth is sometimes, those genetic traits can skip a generation.
Gramps and I
That’s what this young man found out when he finally got a peek at a picture of his granddad. Clearly, he does look like his father or at least his father’s side of the family.
Triple Threat
It’s one thing to look like your mom but it’s another to look like your mom and your grandmother. Clearly, this young lady’s family has some very specific facial features that seemed to pass down as if they were copy-pasted.
Triple Threat
Though their eyes may look a little different, these three women have very similar noses, and that smile is definitely a genetic trait. Our guess is that this will be passed on to the young lady’s children when she has them.
A Birthmark Like No Other
When a baby is born, it is sometimes hard to tell which parent they take after the most. It isn’t until later when they start to grow up that the similarities typically begin to show. Unless, of course, you’re this baby.
A Birthmark Like No Other
It seems that this little one has a unique gray streak through her hair, just like her mama. We wonder if that will be the only thing that makes them look like they have been copy-pasted.
Two of a Kind
Flipping through old family albums can be fun and very educational. This is especially the case if you haven’t really had the opportunity to meet a lot of your family.
Two of a Kind
So, when this woman thumbed through an old album, she found out why people said she looked like her grandma. If only the picture was in color, maybe she’d look more like her grandma than we can see through this picture.
Old Meets New
Many families find themselves drifting apart and not having connections with even close relatives. That is why a lot of people do research through the ancestry databases of DNA matching companies.
Old Meets New
This young woman did just that and found out that she looks almost exactly like her great-grandmother, which is a pretty cool finding. Plus, she got to connect with other family members, so all in all, she came out with great insight and experiences from it.
Apple Doesn’t Fall Far
We’ve all heard the saying, “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” For those of you unsure of what this means, basically, it refers to how children share similar traits with their parents. But for kids who didn’t know their parents, this can be impossible to know.
Apple Doesn’t Fall Far
So, this guy resorted to taking a DNA test and he ended up finding out that he and his father are identical in looks. Also, he was able to find this picture of his dad through family members that he connected with.
Face-Off
This next face-off is pretty interesting to us because this little girl actually resembles her mom’s sister more so than her own mom. It just goes to show you the power of genes. We wonder if this cutie on the left also looks a little like her mom.
Face-Off
Also, since this photo was taken when the aunt was so young, we wonder if she still looks like her niece today. Sometimes when you age, you can change quite drastically from when you were young.
What’s Up, Cousin?
It’s not unusual for kids to look like their mother or father or even grandparents. Sometimes though, the family members they wind up looking like are not their immediate family.
What’s Up, Cousin?
Imagine finding out that you look just like your cousin at some family reunion… We’re not sure if this is how these two realized they were twinning but it would have been really funny if that was the case.
Side by Side
Looking at two pictures side-by-side can give you a good idea of how much you actually look like the person people have said you resemble. But if you are a detail-orientated person, then doing a split-screen, and actually merge the two faces can be very helpful.
Side by Side
That’s what this gentleman on the left did with a photo of an older relative of his and he discovered that they’re pretty much the same person.
Look at That Jawline!
If it weren’t for the nose, this guy and his great-great-uncle would be spitting images of each other. Looking at this picture, you might even think that his uncle was actually his father or his grandfather.
Look at That Jawline!
It’s all about that very pronounced and strong jawline. If it weren’t for that, maybe these two wouldn’t look so similar. The young man should be proud since his great-great-uncle looks like an old Hollywood star.
Pay Attention!
While genetic traits are sometimes hereditary, it turns out that dedication to service is also another trait that can run in families. So, this youngster on the left must have been overjoyed and filled with pride when he discovered his great uncle was also a military man.
Pay Attention!
These two gentlemen could never be mistaken for strangers with all of the similar genetic traits they share, from their chins to their mouths and eyes.
Beauty Passed Down
It must be the coolest feeling ever to discover that you are twinning with someone in your family. For this girl, she had that unique connection with her grandmother.
Beauty Passed Down
Not only can she carry on the family legacy, but also the looks as you can see here they’re very similar looking. We think it’s the eyes and nose that give their resemblance away, what do you guys think?
A Face Carried Throughout Centuries
Even though there is a 100-year difference between these two photos, the genetic match doesn’t lie. You can definitely see that these two men are related even though they’re not fully identical.
A Face Carried Throughout Centuries
The resemblance for us lies in the mouth and eyes but people can interpret things differently. Maybe you guys can see something else? We’re open to interpretation but one thing we’re sure that we can all agree on is that this is a good-looking family!
Those Cheeks Though
Sometimes babies don’t really look like anyone in the family. They haven’t yet begun to fill out and form their overall basic appearance. Then again, there are always exceptions to the rule and this baby proves that!
Those Cheeks Though
This cute little side by side of a mother and a daughter at roughly about the same age makes our hearts melt. Not only do they have the same nose, but just look at those cheeks! We’d do anything to pinch them!
Dribbling Like a Pro
It is always fun to find old pictures and then try to recreate them today. The fun definitely gets elevated when the two individuals look so much alike. Take, for instance, this mother and daughter duo who not only look alike but seem to dribble the same too.
Dribbling Like a Pro
We’re impressed by the effort put in to copy the older photo on the right. How cute are those pigtail hairstyles? The look is making us nostalgic!
Keeping it Going
When you have multiple generations that seem to all carry the same features forward, it is pretty amazing to look at. This family has four generations of faces that look like they have been copy-pasted.
Keeping it Going
We think they all look alike, but the two on the left seem to bear the most resemblance. It’s actually pretty funny because they are the two furthest removed generationally. Do you see the similarities as well?
Hello, it’s Me!
“Hello! I’m just calling to let you know that I stole your face” – that’s what we’d imagine the girl on the left is saying after realizing that she’s the spitting image of her mother.
Hello, it’s Me!
This cute side-by-side comparison of this mother and her daughter shows that even expressions can be genetically passed down. So too, apparently, can be a love for frills. Is it rude for us to ask who’s cuter? We know they’re very similar but the mom’s bowl cut bangs are just beyond!
Taking it Back
Being able to take a trip down memory lane all the way back to the 19th century is not easily done by everyone. It takes a family that loves to collect and maintain historical records to even be able to do what this gentleman did.
Taking it Back
Looking at three generations so far removed and seeing the same basic face and love for facial hair is pretty darn outstanding. Don’t you think?
Half a Millennia Later
A long time ago, there were no photos because there were no cameras, and so the only way that you could have a portrait picture would be if it was painted. It must be so cool for the gentleman on the left to have an image of a distant relative from over half a millennia ago.
Half a Millennia Later
And when that relative bears a striking resemblance to you, then it’s even cooler. So, this guy took a profile picture of himself so that he could make a fair comparison.
The Windows to the Soul
Most of us can admit to at least one or two features that we share with one or both of our parents. That means that sometimes we don’t see the other features that make us look so much like them.
The Windows to the Soul
This woman sees the resemblance she has with her mom in the eyes but does not see that her nose and overall facial structure also align. Do you see it too?
Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
This grandson and his grandfather have a lot in common. They seem to like to wear a suit and tie, and they also have some very distinguishing features that, when compared, easily show that they are related.
Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
For us, this is the nose and the overall shape of the face. Looking at these two features and negating the fact that one has more hair than the other, you can definitely see that there were some genetic traits passed down.
Do you See It?
Have you ever wondered where the shape of your eyes or nose comes from? Sometimes it’s hard to answer these questions unless, of course, you have plenty of family pictures from back in the day. Luckily for this girl, she had one or two.
Do you See It?
This great-granddaughter and great-grandmother have a lot in common in our opinion. Pretty much if you look from the nose up, they seem to be almost the same person. It must have been cool for her to see this.
A Lot in Common
The truth is that no matter how far removed your relative is, there are just some strands of DNA that are stronger than others. So even if you are dealing with a great-grandmother, you may find that you and she have a lot in common.
A Lot in Common
At least that’s what happened for this young woman who finally got a sneak peek at a pic of her great grandmother from way back when and noticed that they had a lot of similar features.
That Smile Says it All
Sometimes it doesn’t take very many shared features to have people tell you that you look like a relative. Occasionally though, you just happen to be the perfect combination of both your parents and you can’t deny the fact that you look very similar.
That Smile Says it All
In our opinion, this girl has her mom’s smile and coloring but her dad’s eyes. We could be wrong as people don’t always see things the same way. Do you agree that she looks like a mix of her parents?
Give Me a Smirk
Everybody smiles differently! Some people smile with just their mouths, and others smile with just their eyes or with both their eyes and mouth. Also, while some do a full grin with their teeth all out, others just kind of smirk.
Give Me a Smirk
These two family members bear an uncanny resemblance and that smirk really gives it away for us. Plus, we have to say that they both have a star-studded smile because their eyes seem to be grinning as well!
Like Father, Like Daughter
Though many of us try to refrain from looking back at old pictures of us because we think we look goofy, it sometimes can be pretty illuminating.
Like Father, Like Daughter
Take, for instance, this daughter and father, when doing a little reminiscing, found out that they shared a lot in common. Everything from the smile to the eyes is pretty much the same. Makes us wonder what they look like now!
Mommy and Me
Fashion may change, but your DNA won’t. It is fun sometimes to look back at old pictures and make fun of your parents for what they wore. But it might be a little harder to do when you look at pictures and seem to be staring at yourself.
Mommy and Me
This mother and daughter share a lot of features in common if not all of them. Minus the hairstyle difference and braces, these two are identical twins.
Pretty Happy
Can being so happy be something that’s transmitted through DNA? We don’t know the answer to this, but we now know that just about everything else can be passed down. From the hair to the chin, this daughter looks exactly like her dad did at the same age.
Pretty Happy
There are clearly some very strong genes running through this family, and we can only imagine that as they grow, they will continue to look like twins.
Save the Dress
Sure we have heard of mothers saving their wedding dresses so that they can pass them on to their daughters. But how many of you have heard of a mom saving what looks to be a prom dress? We’re guessing not that many!
Save the Dress
Though we’re sure the dress helps when comparing the two to find similarities, there is so much more than the outfit that they share in common. Even without the dress, you would know that these two were mother and daughter.
Too Special!
OK, first we have to talk about the fact that both the father and the son seem to hold their kid the same way. We are not sure that this is the right way to hold a baby, but it does make for a cute side-by-side picture.
Too Special!
Also, the father-son duo could very well be brothers. Just take a look at those eyes, brows, and even that nose. There is no question that these two are related in some way or another.
That Hair!
Though it looks like one of these kids is not having such a good day, it is clear that they come from the same family. Not only do they look almost identical facial-wise, but they also seem to have another feature in common.
That Hair!
What is it? We’re sure you can guess that we’re talking about their messy hair. It seems to be a little crazy and hard to control, perhaps like their personalities? Only kidding!
Look at Me!
There is just no denying that these two gentlemen are father and son. They seem to have almost the same exact facial features from eyes to the mouth. Along with that, though, they also have a similar gaze.
Look at Me!
Not to mention the hairline and the fact they’re both very hairy. One look at this side-by-side comparison is all you need to be certain that these share some DNA. Don’t you agree?
Giddy Up!
Some families like to keep traditions going. Things like going to the same barbershop to get their kid’s first haircut and documenting it is a great example of what we mean.
Giddy Up!
Not only did the father revisit this childhood memory, but he also seems to have gotten the perfect picture to show the family resemblance. They also both don’t look too happy about getting their first haircut!
Same Sweaters and All
It seems that sometimes DNA is not the only thing that is passed down. It is clear that this picture is of a father and son at two very different times. Even with that being said, though, they seem to be still rocking the same style.
Same Sweaters and All
If you look at their facial features, you can tell pretty easily that these two could be carbon copies of each other. Plus, add in the matching sweaters, and they’re practically the same person!
Mini-Me
Sometimes your kids just won’t believe that they look just like you did when you were their age. That is when you have to get those boxes of old pictures out and start digging through them until you find just the right one.
Mini-Me
This mother did it, and she found one that shows clearly that not only do they look alike, but at one point they also rocked the same hairdo. How funny is that?
Dead Ringer
When you look at this split image, it is easy to see why this girl is always told she looks like her mother. Besides for difference in the shape of their faces, they could be identical twins. They even have a matching mole above their mouth!
Dead Ringer
We love that Marilyn Monroe-inspired mole! But the biggest two things that stand out to us between them are the eyes and the smile. These two features combined make it clear that some DNA was shared.
Pass on the Hairdo
It seems that school pictures haven’t come very far in the past few decades, especially when you look at these two images side by side. Also, photo design aside, this mother and daughter duo certainly share a lot in common.
Pass on the Hairdo
Maybe the similarities wouldn’t be so noticeable if they didn’t have the same haircut but we think that sweet and innocent smile also gives it away. Do you agree?
Genetics Are Crazy!
Even though both the pictures here are not the best of quality, it is still crystal clear to see that these gentlemen are related. Surely you see it too?
Genetics Are Crazy!
Since this man looks so much like his great-great-grandfather, we wonder if he has any similarities with his mother. Maybe the facial structure? As the man on the left has a fuller and more wide-shaped face.
Recycling the Look
It seems to us that maybe this guy was trying to really show how much he resembled his dad by mimicking outfits and hair length. That spotty shirt must be pretty iconic in that family!
Recycling the Look
But outfit outside, we can see in the facial features that these two share some DNA. And we have to add, that it’s some fine quality genes that got passed down. That dad could have been a famous actor for all we know!
Student Invents a Face Mask for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing
By Philippa Smythe –
21-year-old Ashley Lawrence realized that there’s a shortage of supplies for the deaf and hard of hearing who need mask protection. Ashley decided to join the cause by making her own masks for those in need. People need to have essential medical items, and making see-through masks is what Ashely can do to contribute.

A Mask People Rely On
The sign language offers a lot of grammar-related signals, but people rely mostly on lip-reading, which is how a standard mask complicates things.
Lawrence studies education for the deaf and hard of hearing at Eastern Kentucky University. Finishing her semester at home, she had the free time to make face masks for those who speak sign language. She sewed the face mask with plastic windows over the mouth.
Raising Money to Make a Difference
Lawrence has been shipping mask bundles free of charge to local hospitals and deaf individuals, and she even launched a GoFundMe campaign. Ashley plans to do this in the long run and needs funds for materials, shipping, and handling costs. However, after raising more than $3,000 in two days, she shut her page down.

Initially, Lawrence asked her mom for help, and they both started making the featuring-a-plastic-window masks. Ashley has now recruited volunteers to make the see-through masks within her community in Woodford County, Kentucky. She’s also launching an official website and social media pages for her new DHH Mask Project with the increasing demand for her masks.
Ashley is also planning on posting a do-it-yourself video on Youtube, explaining in detail how to make the mouth-visible mask. This way, deaf or hard-of-hearing people worldwide could make one even if they live in an area too distant for shipping from Kentucky.
Ashley Lawrance is making the world a much better place, one mask at a time.
