Interstellar Fans Finally Get One of the Movie’s Biggest Questions Answered

Like many of Christopher Nolan’s films, Interstellar was a cultural phenomenon that’s still talked about today. Especially given the Oscar attention Nolan’s most recent film, Oppenheimer, is receiving, people are looking back at the director’s past work. Now, with Interstellar’s renewed attention, one of the film’s oldest questions has finally been answered.

Christopher Nolan’s Dedication

Christopher Nolan takes his craft very seriously and doesn’t leave room for even the smallest details to go unnoticed. Not only did the director plant 500 acres of corn to shoot just one scene, but he also hired a physicist to accurately create mathematical equations that describe a black hole – a feat that took 100 hours for each frame to render. Well, another detail that Nolan was determined to get just right in his film was the ticking noise on Miller’s planet.

The Ticking Noise

Time moves extremely slowly on Miller’s planet because it’s located near a black hole – the strong gravitational pull slows time down. So, the ticking we hear on the planet is showing us the difference between time on Earth and on Miller’s planet. Every hour on the foreign planet equals seven years on Earth, and the ticking occurs at a rate of 1.25 seconds. This means that each tick represents one full day on Earth that the characters are missing out on while they’re stuck on Miller’s planet.

As usual, Christopher Nolan has created a masterpiece that still has people mesmerized years – and ticks – later.

From Bella Hadid to Bradley Cooper — 25 ‘Who Wore it Better’ Moments

Who Wore It Better

We spend hours shopping, picking out clothes we hope no one has. Getting caught wearing the same outfit as someone you know is a bummer, but we’ve all been there. For celebrities, it might be even worse as their every move is caught on camera. It doesn’t take too long to start playing ‘Who Wore It Best’ whenever two celebs wear the same dress or shirt, it’s become a crowd favorite. We’ve put together a list of 25 celebs that were caught wearing the same outfits – and decided once and for all, who wore it better.

Felicity Jones VS. Bella Hadid

Supermodel Bella Hadid and actress Felicity Jones both took our breath away in this low-cut open-back Dior gown. Both of these beauties rocked Dior on red carpets, and somehow, they took the look to two completely directions.

Twitter // @peoplestyle

On the left, we see Jones, in light make-up and a messy bun. To the right, Hadid looks fierce in a high-bun and a sharp cat-eye. Both of these girls managed to steal our hearts, but Bella is our winner. It’s all in the cat-eye. Winner – Bella Hadid.

Josh Duhamel VS. Bradley Cooper

Who are we kidding – these two hunks both just won at life. The hot Hollywood dads are wearing the same Philanthropy shirt, topped off with matching black baseball caps. The actors look like they’re on the run and we don’t know where they’re going, but they’re welcome to take us with them.

There is no winner here, and in fact, even we’re winning as we have been blessed with these two heartthrobs. Winner – Hands down a tie.

Elizabeth Chambers VS. Yara Shahidi

We have mixed feelings about this “LCD” – Little Chanel dress. The two actresses tried to make it work, each adding their own twist, but we’re just not sure we’re into the dress. Yara’s blue eyeliner adds a bit of color to this bland piece.

People // Lauren Lieberman

Elizabeth’s hair, on the other hand, well let’s say, we know who are new hair inspiration is. The pop of color Yara added with her makeup was enough to gain her the title of “winner” in this round. Winner – Yara Shahidi.

Rowan Blanchard VS. Adwoa Aboah

These two stunning ladies both wore this vibrant floral Coach dress with grace. They each added their special touch to the summery look. Rowan added two dots under her eyes, an elegant finish to this look. Supermodel Adwoa went for a bolder style, wearing big gold hoop earrings and necklaces.

Domesticated Companion // Gabi Steiner

We’re not sure which one of them wore it better – but one thing’s for sure, the dress completely sold out after these two women stepped out in it. Winner – Undecided.

Angela Sarafyan VS. Busy Philipps

Sometime’s ‘Who Wore It Best’ turns into ‘Who Wore It First’. The elegant Christian Siriano ball gown was worn first by Philipps at the L.A premiere of I Feel Pretty. Her pink hair gave the dress a light-hearted twist.

The Westworld star donned this look at the Emmys a few months later. Sarafyan’s earrings added an extra sparkle to the gown, but we’re going to give this one to Busy. There is something about her that works. Winner –  Busy Philipps.

Eva Longoria VS. Leona Lewis

We’re not going to lie, we’re not a big fan of this look. These two beauties wore the oversized white Mario Dice blazer, and although we think it has potential, there’s something that doesn’t work for us.

Twitter // @ArlindoGrund

Longoria wore it at a red carpet event, simple and chic. Lewis took the look on-stage with her, and between the two, she steals this one. Winner – Leona Lewis.

Kerry Washington VS. Kelly Clarkson

No one won this round – and not for the right reasons. The actress and the singer both wore this Carolina Herrera dress, and it is far from chic.

Twitter // @byrneherronnu1

We’re not sure where to start, there’s the black and white, the poofy shoulders, the belt, and the polka dots. When you put them all together, and you get this disaster. Winner – Uma Thurman.

Nicky Hilton VS. Ashley Benson

These two blonde babes rocked this leopard Morgan Clifford “Emily” coat so hard we’re gonna need a few moments to catch our breath. Ok, we’re back. Picking a ‘who wore it best’ for this one is tricky. Heiress Nicky went for a sleek look, wearing small studs and light make-up.

(Left) Daily Mail // splashnews | (Right) Twitter // @PageSix

Actress Ashley Benson looks like a rock-star thats conquering the world, one concert at a time. It was hard to choose between the two beauties, but Ashley wins. We’re feeling the open coat that looks more like an accessory than it does a piece of clothing. Winner – Ashley Benson.

Grace Vanderwaal VS. Sarah Jessica Parker

This silver sequin Iorane dress is named “The Carrie” because SJP’s famous character inspired it. Sarah managed to give this dress a Bradshaw spin with a chunky belt and layered necklaces. The young singer, Vanderwaal, went for a more punk look adding a black beret.

Twitter // @ArlindoGrund

We’re sorry to say, but Grace won this round hands down, Sarah out-Carried herself. Winner – Grace Vanderwaal.

Gucci Mane VS. Sufjan Stevens

Both musicians wore this colorful Gucci suit blazer along with a white shirt and a big black tie. We love the bold colors on both of these guys.

Twitter // @ps2hater

There’s something about a musician that knows how to dress that softens us up, and we’re feeling Gucci in Gucci. His buttoned-up look wins this round. Winner – Gucci Mane.

Dua Lipa VS. Gigi Hadid

The singer and supermodel took a bold choice when they decided to wear this colorfully printed Versace catsuit. We like the print, but we’re not so sure about the colors. Dua Lipa and her bob give off an edgy look.

Twitter // @velvetmagazine

Model Gigi Hadid’s red lip ties the whole look together. And the winner is (drumroll please) Gigi! She took colorful to a whole new level, and we’re feeling it. Winner – Gigi Hadid.

Claudia Schiffer VS. Stella McCartney

These two timeless beauties look fierce in this leopard jumpsuit that was ironically designed by none other than Stella McCartney. The supermodel and designer both added a black belt to this outfit and look effortlessly flawless. Stella undoubtedly won this one.

Twitter // @ArlindoGrund

Claudia’s blond hair is a little too much with the yellow in the jumpsuit. McCartney’s subtle red hair mellows out the yellow, and it pulls the outfit together. Winner – Stella McCartney.

Reese Witherspoon VS. Paula Abdul

Never in a million years would we have thought that Paula Abdul and Reese Witherspoon have the same taste in fashion. The two women wore this Miu Miu collard mini, and both looked classy doing it. Abdul added sheer stockings, and Reese wore long earrings and added a couple of rings.

Twitter // @RobertW83887006

It’s hard to decide who wore it better because these women both look gorgeous, but we’re going to go with Reese. The stockings Abdul added are a bit too much. Winner – Reese Witherspoon.

Jennifer Hudson VS. Camilla Belle

Kanye West’s face says it all. These two actresses look stunning in this Ralph Lauren dress that originally appeared on the runway. Hudson and Belle are both blowing us away, each in their way. Jennifer looks like she effortlessly rolled out of bed and appeared onto the red carpet.

Twitter // @moxielash

Belle is giving us a fierce look, the way she’s standing, her makeup, the hair – we love the whole look. There is no way we could choose between these two beauties, they are both winners.

Janelle Monae VS. Olivia Wilde

We are here for this look. This powder blue velvet Bella Freud suit looks great on both of these gorgeous women. Janelle looks like the CEO of a major company about to close a huge deal – suit and tie in hand.

Twitter // @moxielash

Olivia went for a more gentle look, wearing what seems like little to no makeup. We love both of these looks, but we’re going with Olivia. The laidback vibe she’s giving off won us over. Winner – Olivia Wilde.

Helen Mirren VS. Nina Dobrev

Wearing the same dress as Dame Helen Mirren is a win in and of itself, right Nina? The two actresses wore this Prabal Gurung design on the red carpet. Other than different belt choices, these two lovely ladies wore the look in pretty much the same fashion.

Twitter // @ArlindoGrund

Even their clutches are similar. It’s a hard decision to make, but we went with Nina. We love her belt. Winner- Nina Dobrev.

Selma Blair VS. Kate Walsh

These two stunning actresses wore the same classy Christian Siriano dress to red carpet events. They are both gorgeously subtle and are even pulling the same “pocket pose” for the camera.

Twitter // @babiousB

Blair let her dark hair down as Kate Walsh went with the classic tight bun. If we have to choose a winner, which we do, we choose Kate. She looks like an elegant ballerina, and we’re digging it. Winner – Kate Walsh.

Laura Bailey VS. Nicole Kidman

This Erdem dress is making all our fairy-tale dreams come true – fairy-godmother Nicole Kidman? Don’t mind if we do. Laura Bailey added some drama with a smokey eye and a bold lip. Nicole Kidman, on the other hand, stayed true to her roots looks au-natural.

(Left) Shutterstock // invision | (Right) Pinterest // @people

This gorgeous purple gown looks stunning on both of these women, but Kidman wins this one. Winner – Nicole Kidman.

Katie Holmes VS. Emily Blunt

The two actresses look comfy and chic in this Zimmermann sweater. It looks like Holmes wore this sweater while running errands. Emily sported the cream-colored sweater at a casual event.

Twitter // @twiceblunt

Both women are rocking the puffy-sleeved sweater, but there’s something about Emily’s bold green pants that won us over. Winner – Emily Blunt.

Kelly Ripa VS. Jennifer Garner

Ladies in red! Kelly and Jennifer look drop-dead gorgeous in this Roland Mouret dress. You can tell these two women spend time at the gym and that their hard work pays off (we’re jealous).

Twitter // @peoplestyle

Both women look daring, but Kelly’s blond with the red dress goes together perfectly. Winner – Kelly Ripa.

Emma Roberts VS. Eva Longoria

We love it when celebs wear other celebs. Both Emma and Eva wore Victoria Beckham’s special shopping bag T-shirt – except they both wore the shirt on two different occasions. Emma sported the shirt for an afternoon out.

Twitter // @luxemonthly

Eva spiced the look up with a blazer and pants. It’s hard to compare the two looks, but with this specific t-shirt, we choose Emma. Winner – Emma Roberts.

Mariah Carey VS. Julianne Moore

Comparing a diva queen to a cinema queen seems virtually impossible, but we’ll try. The pop icon and Oscar winner present two very different ways to style this Louis Vuitton dress. Mariah added tights and sparkling jewelry.

Twitter // @FilenesBasement

Moore went with a more relaxed look with a red lip and light makeup. We’re feeling Julianne’s look a little more, although we respect Mariah for giving it her own Mariah twist. Winner – Julianne Moore.

Millie Bobby Brown VS. Kristen Dunst

Dunst inspired the Stranger Things star after she wore this polka-dotted Rodarte dress on the red carpet. The two actresses stunned in this gown. Millie looked sleek with her hair pulled back, with light makeup.

(Left) Daily Mail // Justin Goff | (Right) Daily Mail // WireImage

Dunst looks strong with her dark eye and red lipstick. Our hearts are set on Millie, her humble gaze is mesmerizing. Winner – Millie Bobbie Brown.

Tilda Swinton VS. Keira Knightley

Both stars added their accessories to this Chanel tux. Tilda added a little pin that is barely noticeable and yet adds a feminine touch. And then there’s Keira who added a bow to tie (no pun intended) the look together.

Twitter // @ArlindoGrund

Both actresses wore little makeup but added a bright red lip that is gorgeous in contrast to the black and white of the tux. Tilda wins this one, she looks too good. Winner – Tilda Swinton.

Bella Hadid VS. Jenna Coleman

Both stars rocked this red plaid Burberry trench coat in their way. Bella wore it down with a beanie and hoodie. Jenna stepped out with a white turtleneck.

Instagram // @hellopakistan

Although both are gorgeous looks when it comes down to it, we’re feeling Bella’s vibe more. Sorry Jenna, maybe next time? Winner – Bella Hadid.
