A 43-Year Romance
Eugene Levy and Deborah Devine have been married for quite a long time. However, not much of their relationship was in the public eye. They’re both in show business, but Deborah mainly stays out of the spotlight.
The two started dating in 1973. Eugene had been in two films and was starring in the cast for Second City Toronto. Once he met Divine, it was love at first sight. They got married in 1977 in front of a crowd of 300 guests. They welcomed their first child, Dan Levy, six years later, and then in 1986, they had Sarah Levy.
The two went on to pursue successful careers with Eugune acting and working in comedy while Deborah became a producer and writer. Even though things would have been more convenient for their careers if they lived in L.A., the couple decided to give their children “normal childhoods” by raising them in Toronto.
How Schitt’s Creek Stars Were Brought Up
Eugene Levy and his wife were strict as parents and wanted their children, Dan and Sarah, to be brought up understanding the value of discipline and not be draped into the show-business environment. For the parents, if you crossed the line, there would be a punishment.
The couple mentioned that they never really had a problem with their kids and despite running such a tight ship and that they also provided them with the endless support that they needed. This was crucial for Dan as he struggled to come out as gay. Both of his parents supported him from the beginning.
